The American Contender Tournament operates as rodeo athletes’ pathway to The American Rodeo.
The Tournament is made up of over 100 qualifying rodeos; 3 Regional finals across the East, West and Central United States, culminating in one National Final.
Over 3,000 contending rodeo athletes will have the opportunity to earn a spot to compete at The American.
For the first time ever, the sports made popular by the Yellowstone television series – cutting, reining, and reined cow horse – are brought together in one sporting event created by Teton Ridge. The largest western sport spectacle with 18,000 fans, witnessed the greatest human and equine athletes compete for $1 million. The combined total lifetime earnings for The American Performance Horseman Athletes is over $41 million.
